My name is Kris, and I am a 29 year old wife and mother. I have my own Mary Kay business, and at this point mylife looks pretty much like most middle class folks. I am very blessed with many things that most would consider luxury. I drive a nice car live in a nice home, and wear nice shoes. All of these things come with a price tag, and while I look to be doing pretty good on the outside I, like many, have far too much credit card debt, and a sizeable note to go along with the stylish car I am driving. I have cinderella dreams of traveling the world in style, touching the lives of many with a story that brings hope, and living a comfortable lifestyle where money is no longer a stresser. Lisa Allison a NSD with Mary Kay often says, "Money won't buy you happiness, but it will buy you choices." I don't know about you, but I want choices!
It is July 16 2010, and we just started a new year in Mary Kay. I am a star recruiter with Mary Kay cosmetics, and I just wrapped up my first year in the business. I set 4 huge goals for the year, and only made one. It is not all that suprising because I simply did not do the work necessary to reach those goals. See our business is not magical, its mathmatical, and I simply did not work the numbers. I read something that got my wheels turning this morning, "the path of least resistance does not often lead to anything great" (NSD Allison Lamar). I believe this to be so true. This year I am on a mission for huge growth in my business as well as in my personal life. I am going to settle into my pink bubble, put on my blinders and steer clear of all distractions. It is time to work like most won't for a season so that I can live like most cannot. I am on a pink mission, and I will blog daily about my progress, my trials, and my successes. I have a goal to do something out of my comfort zone everyday between now and June 30th 2011 (MK's year end) .
Today's out of my comfort zone experience...
Today I went out to some local business' and asked if I could come in and pass out some samples and business cards at their establishment, and allow their customers the opportunity to enter a drawing for a fabulous basket of MK goodies. Now I was professionally dressed, and had my game face on. I promised that I would not be soliciting sales, but simply taking information for my prize drawing, and passing out free samples. At the first location I was TERRIFIED....Now I am a pretty together and confident girl, but I do not like asking for help of any kind!!!!!! After all I AM WOMAN. Well it was quite a rush. I was really nervous, but when all was said and done I had a very interesting conversation with myself in the car. I told my self, "What were you so scared of? Did you think she was going to spit on you and throw you out of her establishment?" I seriously said this out loud to myself as I drove away. I learned a valuable lesson today, action cures fear! I was no longer scared as I drove to the next few locations, but rather excited. I did not get any appointments on my books today, but I tried something new, got out of my comfort zone and took a proactive approach. One establishment said they needed to check with their corporate office, one simply said no. And the other two did not have anyone available to speak with me when I popped in. My take away from today is this, A few minutes of feeling uncomfortable is worth the payoff it could have in the end. I must do some things I don't feel like doing to achieve the success that I desire. Growth and change can be difficult and painful, but like a diamond sometimes some pressure needs to be applied so that we can shine in the end.
On June 30 2011 I want to be a Pink Cadillac driving Mary Kay Sales Director. I want to be on the Court of Sales and the Court of Sharing. These are my huge goals for 2010-2011 MK year...
This year I will defy gravity, and no one will bring me down!
Kris
